The production started in 1988 and ended in 1992.
The 1932 Replica lighters were produced by hand
because of the size being longer and the squared corners
they did not fit the equipment for the current Zippo lighters.

This 1988 table top display

comes in a woodgrain design and
is about 9 inches high and 7 inches wide.
It contains an Original 1932 Replica
and 10 Zippo lighter collectors' guides.
As known since 1997 that Georg Grant Blaisdell founded the Zippo Co.

in 1932 but the production and the sale started one year later in 1933

these Original 1932 Replicas are high valued items among collectors.

I
As these Zippo Replicas were produced by hand there are some finish and detail
differences that can be noticed by taking a closer look.
The very first ones produced in 1988 do not only have a high polished lid top and bottom
but also high polished sides as shown in the following detail pics.
The bottom stamp did not change during
the produciton from 1988 to 1992.
By being hand polished the early Replicas
have more rounded corners.
Comparing the hinges the early ones are absolutely straight and later
changed to being pitched on the outer ends as shown above in the right pic.
As a matter of fact hand polishing the
sides results in the corners being rounder
and thinner too by loosing some material.
The reflection of the golden Zippo logo
from the grey velvet case mirrors
right beneath the five barrel outer hinge.
Every Original 1932 Replica contains the small plastic spacer that prevents the insert
slipping to deep inside the case. The later produced 1932 second release and the
1933 release have a modified bottom part to make the insert fit perfectly.
